Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OCR Forge platform and API operated by BoerTech ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using OCR Forge, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Service Description

OCR Forge provides an API-based optical character recognition (OCR) service that processes uploaded documents (PDFs, images, scans) and returns structured data (JSON, CSV, searchable PDF). The service is provided on an "as is" basis.

2. Account & API Keys

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your API key and all activity under your account.
• You must not share your API key or use another user's credentials.
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose or to process illegal content
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or authentication
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the service
• Upload malicious files or attempt to exploit the processing pipeline
• Resell or redistribute the service without written permission
• Use the service to process documents containing child exploitation material

4. Plans & Billing

• Free tier: 50 pages per month, no charge.
• Paid plans are billed monthly in South African Rand (ZAR).
• Prices may change with 30 days' notice.
• Unused quota does not roll over to the next month.
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

5. Data Ownership

• You retain full ownership of all documents you upload and results generated.
• We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
• We process your documents solely to provide the OCR service.
• We do not use your documents to train models or for any other purpose.

6. Data Retention

• Uploaded documents are deleted after OCR processing completes.
• Processing results are retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
• Account data is retained for the duration of your account plus 90 days after deletion.

7. Service Availability

We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice. We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service interruptions beyond our reasonable control.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, OCR Forge and BoerTech shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Suspension & Termination

• We may suspend your account for violation of these Terms or non-payment.
• You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support.
• Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our retention policy.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the Western Cape.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
